We always hear that we need to get at least 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise three times a week. Richard P. Sloan, PhD, professor of behavioral medicine at Columbia University Medical Center (New York) states, “Cardiovascular exercise reduces the systemic inflammation that can lead to heart disease.”
A study done by the American Psychosomatic Society proved that moderate or high intensity aerobic exercise lowers the level of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-an indicator of inflammation. Other studies have proven performing cardio respiratory or aerobic exercise promotes the loss of body fat and increases lean body tissue. It also reduces the risk of developing osteoporosis. Some studies have shown that insulin levels can be lowered and that diabetics can significantly reduce or even eventually eliminate their medicines.
In addition, aerobic exercise can lower the risk of a heart attack by reducing blood pressure and lowering high blood cholesterol.
Recommendation: Eat a healthy diet, strength train and do cardiovascular exercise for 30 minutes a day at least three days a week.
