I was so scared!
Is this YOU? - You're not alone!
- I don’t like the way I feel.
- I can’t look at myself in the mirror.
- I’m just so tired.
- I’m tired of being in pain.
I can’t even get down on the floor anymore without difficultyI will just try another diet, the one I saw on T.V. I want to change my life, but I don’t know where to start and I’m too embarrassed. If I join a gym it will just be filled with beautiful fit people all staring at me wondering why I even set foot in the place. They all know what to do and I just have no clue!
Have you ever thought any of these things? If you have, guess what? You’re NOT ALONE!!!
And it’s not your fault!
I know because I used to feel this way too. For 20 years I hid out in my basement working out because there was no way in hell I was ever going to work out in front of people.
Then along came EFC and my passion to want to help people face and beat these demons.
I am constantly reminded of that shy girl in my roll as a Personal Trainer here at EFC as I hear other people’s own struggles and challenges. One recent story really struck me and brought me to tears. I knew I had to share it because I know there are more of you out there that just need someone to help you take that first step to an amazing life journey.
This woman was in her 50s and was very depressed with her health and body. She was not only suffering from aches and pains due to being overweight but several health issues as well. She knew she had to do something otherwise she was going to be put on all sorts of medication. Going to the gym was what she had to do, but to walk into the place scared her to death. She was so scared that the first time she drove to EFC she just sat in her car watching the people go in and out expecting to see “beautiful” people and feeling like she wouldn’t fit in.
But she was surprised to see “normal” people coming and going. This eased her a bit but not enough to go in. The next day she came and got out of her car but had to just stand next to it, still not ready to go in.
Finally, the next time she walked in and joined the gym but hid on the machines as she really wasn’t sure where to start and was to nervous to ask for help. But luckily at EFC we provide members with two free consults with a personal trainer. It is at this point that I was able to meet this wonderful, beautiful woman. When she told me her story, I honestly had goose bumps and tears in my eyes and just gave her a big hug. I was so proud of her to keep working through her emotions and finally step through our doors.
Then with a little guidance I was able to help her overcome some of her fears and try new exercises that were the most beneficial for her body which involved getting off the fixed machines. She was so surprised that she was able to do some of the exercises on things like a TRX or unsupported cable machine. She felt so strong and accomplished after just one session of trying these things.
Again, not only was I so proud of her but she was proud of herself too!The morale of this story is, don’t let your fears stop you from becoming a stronger, healthier YOU!
Yeah, it’s easy to just give in but ask yourself this, “Am I worth putting in the time and effort to become healthy, stronger, lessen my aches and pains, and just feel better about myself?” or“Do I just want to keep living in pain, fear and keep paying for medications that maybe I wouldn’t even need anymore if I just made a few changes in my life?
If you answered YES to the prior, then please take the next step, you can do it!!If you need help, then reach out to me at jenn@efcfit.com I will answer any questions you have or if you want to set up a strategy session I can do that too. Any way I can help!
